» Communications
Cruiser Safaris Ltd equips all its safari vehicles with two way radios so that the drivers can communicate with our base, each other and lodges. Most hotels and lodges also have telephones; however, their surcharge rates are quite high. Telephone directories will list all the international dialling codes. Both local and long distance calls are metered on a time basis. All major hotels
also have fax machines and internet services at the disposal of their guests. Roaming mobile communication is available throughout most of East Africa. Postal services are fairly well organised and there should be no problems in sending or receiving letters. |

» Tipping
A tip of 10% for good service is adequate. Service charges are frequently added to your bills. It is common to tip a tour driver/guide at least US$5–10 for a day.

Currency and Exchange
|
 |
The local unit of currency for Kenya and Tanzania is the Kenya Shilling and Tanzania Shilling respectively which is freely convertible within each country for the US$, Sterling £, Euros, and other currencies. There are numerous banks and bureaux de change in the main towns and most hotels and lodges will exchange currency or travellers cheques. However, most items and services are priced and paid for in US$, so there is no need to convert
more funds
into local currency than what you need for incidental expenses.
Most Credit Cards are accepted at an increasing number of establishments. But, it is not possible to obtain cash on a credit card, and so tourists are recommended to carry sufficient funds in the form of travellers cheques. |
